The 'foundation stone' was laid on 6 May 1895 by sons Louis and George Kauling. Remarkably, Huize Padua has also been occupied successively by no fewer than six GPs since then. The building owes its name to a stained-glass window depicting Saint Anthony of Padua. This window was originally located in a round steel window in the right side facade.

Feel free to take your time to view the façade. The façade has five bays and a symmetrical layout. The middle bay and the corners of the building are marked by lisens or columns. The frieze under the cornice with gutter consists of tiles with decorative, geometric patterns. Near the middle bay, the frieze is interrupted with representations of an esculape, a mortar and sunflowers. The cornice consists of a bluestone window sill, a tile border with patterns similar to those of the frieze and a masonry cornice. The cordon frame is interrupted at the middle bay in favour of the balcony.

In the centre of the front façade is a beautifully detailed front door with overhead light. Above it is a rectangular balcony with wrought-iron railings on large consoles with lion heads. The balcony features an exterior door with overhead light. The console form recurs, in smaller dimensions, at the top of the lisens below the gutter.

The cornices are extended at the lisens. The middle bay is topped by a dormer with classicist framing. The large arched plastic windows with sash windows have a small rod division.

The one-and-a-half stone-high arched rollers have plastered starting and closing stones. There are diamond heads on the keystones.

The left side facade is less ornamented than the front facade. Against this façade is a three-sided extension under a gabled roof, also covered with cross-tiles. The gabled roof has five skylights. The windows in the façade, as on the front, have arched rollers of one-and-a-half stone height.
