Description

Luxurious living in Villa 'Sparrenduin' with unique Japanese dune garden in Bennebroek.

Villa 'Sparrenduin' is a detached gem, situated on the picturesque, rolling terrain of 'Het Duin' in Bennebroek. This exclusive area is known for its garden city-like urban development and spacious plots with characteristic villa buildings. The villa was converted into the official residence of the mayor of Bennebroek in the fifties. The current residents completely modernised the house in 2005, while retaining all the characteristic details. The wooden part of the house has even been completely rebuilt in the original style. Villa 'Sparrenduin' has since also been granted the status of municipal monument.

Frank Lloyd Wright
The unique villa has a rich history, built in the twenties by order of bulb trader Van Waveren - co-initiator of the Keukenhof flower exhibition - who, during the many business trips in the country of his clients, was inspired by American architecture. The villa itself exudes a timeless elegance and has a beautiful view all around, each side is architecturally refined. The sleek, rectangular shapes, subtly sloping roofs with wide overhangs, horizontal bulkheads and corner windows reflect the influence of the iconic American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

Everything directly in sight from the lovely sunny terrace and various seating areas spread out in the garden.

Hidden Gem
Bennebroek is a charming village, part of the municipality of Bloemendaal, where warmth and community spirit are central. Villa 'Sparrenduin' has an ideal location central in the village with all shops for daily shopping and restaurants within walking distance, the choice of two primary schools a hop, skip and jump away and various secondary schools safely accessible by bike and bus, makes the village particularly family-friendly.

Feng Shui
Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy that revolves around creating harmony and balance in a space to promote the well-being and energy (shi) of people. The theory is based on the interaction between the 5 elements (wood, fire, earth, metal and water) and the concept of Yin and Yang, the balance between opposites. Feng Shui states that the way in which spaces are furnished – such as the placement of objects, colours and materials – influences energy channels. By stimulating positive energy (sheng-chi) and avoiding negative energy (sha-chi) one can promote happiness, health and prosperity. The current residents have based the design of both the house and the garden on this.

Location, location, location!
The municipality of Bloemendaal with Bennebroek located between the beach and the city, offers the perfect balance between serene tranquility and urban conveniences. For nature lovers, the walking area 'de Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen' is an oasis of peace and beauty. Cycling and touring in all directions with choices such as a tour around the Haarlemmermeer, Kagerplassen, Kennermerduinen or of course the beautiful bulb region. Relax on the vast North Sea beaches of Zandvoort, Langevelderslag or Noordwijk with various beach clubs and restaurants to end the day with sunset. Every spring you can enjoy the highlight of the Dutch spring when the Flower Parade of the Bulb Region crosses Bennebroek. Take a short bike ride to the shopping street of Heemstede, the bustling center of the shopping city of Haarlem or a trip by car, bus or train to Amsterdam. In short, shops, restaurants, museums, theaters, cinemas ... something for everyone.
