The octagonal building was built around 1740 and oozes the atmosphere we imagine when thinking of the elegant country estates that once adorned the region and landscape. The teahouse was originally built at the Bosch en Hoven estate in Heemstede and was given a new location during the development of villa park Klein Bentveld in 1927. The move was a deliberate choice to cherish and retain the area’s historic grandeur.

Besides being a charming architectural element on its current plot, the teahouse is a nationally listed building (registered under number 9737). Although the ages have seen some alterations to the building, the domed teahouse remains a unique piece of local heritage, standing the test of time and offering a romantic view of the history of the Kennemerland country estates. A serene monument where one may imagine hearing the hushed voices during balmy afternoon teas and summer evenings long, long ago.

The teahouse is currently used as a home office and benefits from a comfortable stove.
