Description

Villa Le Blaireau, what a delight! This Brabant masterpiece, with the Loonse and Drunense Dunes as its natural neighbours, has a distinctly international allure and is truly 'a work of art you can live in'. Beautiful Brabant has never looked so stunning.

Le Blaireau forms a unique ensemble comprising:
+ the prestigious villa
+ the multifunctional annexe with stables
+ the potential to build an orangery
+ last but not least, the phenomenal garden where you’ll feel as though you’re at Versailles

LE BLAIREAU
An attempt to describe the villa’s exterior: stately, imposing, with international allure. The style ranges from Victorian, Neoclassical, Late Gothic to Neo-Renaissance. In short: eclecticism. Le Blaireau is a unique place to live and to entertain not only your guests but also your business associates. It is a house of stories. A tympanum above the main entrance depicts the goddess of wisdom, Pallas Athena. Beside her stands a lion. Another relief depicts Samson’s battle with the lion. Other striking features include the sleek skylight and the three Victorian chimneys.

The villa features a generous roof overhang, bay windows and a sunken patio on the garden side. Connoisseurs will be delighted by the skilful bricklaying techniques, the unusual size and colour of the bricks, the band of soapstone running around the house, the recessed blue mortar joints and the imposing slate roof.

LAYOUT
The impressive façade tells a great deal, but not everything. We promise you: during a viewing, you’ll be in for a real treat. Both you and your guests will, time and again – sometimes aloud, sometimes in your thoughts – express your appreciation for this fantastic ambience. It would almost be inappropriate to introduce a masterpiece such as Le Blaireau – or any other villa, for that matter – with a detailed description of the layout.
To virtually all your questions about the space, number of rooms and other matters, we can – just as Rolls-Royce used to do when asked ‘how many horsepower does this car have?’ – reply: ‘enough’.
Through the photo feature and Christie’s lifestyle video – certainly well worth a watch – we have deliberately chosen to give only a general impression of the grandeur of Le Blaireau, for the sake of discretion. We advise serious prospective buyers to arrange a no-obligation viewing.

GARDEN
The word ‘garden’ is a euphemism for this Eldorado, inspired by the famous gardens of Versailles. An ‘eldorado’, according to Van Dale, is ‘a paradise, a delightful place, named after Eldorado, a mythical land where money and precious stones are said to lie along the road’. Although the latter may be somewhat of an exaggeration in the case of this property, a stroll through the garden undoubtedly offers a heavenly experience. A gushing fountain set against a backdrop of unique greenery and ponds creates a magical atmosphere not only during the day, but certainly in the evening as well. A beautiful contrast: the interplay of light and dark, open yet intimate. From morning to evening, all year round, the garden almost always allows you to enjoy the great outdoors.
At Le Blaireau, the finer things in life are experienced not only indoors but certainly outdoors as well. There is also the possibility of keeping horses – the stables are already in place – and building a conservatory.
