The stately yet very charming estate “De Koppelboer” lies amidst the beautiful and undulating bocage landscape between De Lutte and Oldenzaal. The magnificent landscape of Twente is popular with cyclists and walkers from all corners of the world who want to enjoy the typical nature and tranquillity. So not surprisingly, this is where the local “textile barons” and great industrialists built their manor houses and country estates in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as they knew where life was sweet. Many decades have passed since then, but the villas are still there and the landscape has hardly changed. Thanks to its perfect location, the residents of “De Koppelboer” can enjoy this type of life to the fullest. Privacy is ensured with a forested plot at the entrance and the vast views of the pasture lands and hedgerows at the back. The magnificent and quintessential manor house has a rich history. In 1859, the original farmhouse named “De Koperboer” was bought by Charles T. Stork, whose textile factory would eventually grow to become the Koninklijke Machinefabriek Stork B.V. [Royal Machine Factory Stork B.V.]. The farmhouse was torn down by his son Hendrik Caspar Stork, who had the current manor constructed on this site in 1928. The name was changed to “De Koppelboer”, by which it has been known ever since.

The villa still radiates its original charm and is still in perfect condition. Fenced off by a monumental cast-iron entrance gate, the splendidly landscaped parklike gardens of 15,207 m2 are an oasis of peace and tranquillity. The wooded parts and lawns almost seamlessly merge with the surrounding nature and the undisturbed sightlines create an enormous sense of space. The villa sits a bit higher on a so-called “terp”, a man-made mound, ensuring even more impressive views.

“De Koppelboer” is the ideal family residence. With a floor space of 393 m2, the house is very spacious and offers generously sized rooms. The ground floor and first floor are perfectly laid out to ensure optimal comfort and the second floor has another cosy bedroom. The vestibule with double doors leads to the central hall, surrounded by three living rooms on different sides of the house – two with authentic mantelpieces – the comfortable kitchen, and a utility room. The living room at the back has doors opening to an amazing and fully covered terrace. On the first floor, you will find the master bedroom with its luxury en-suite bathroom, a fireplace, and a balcony. Apart from the master suite, this floor offers two more comfortable bedrooms and a beautifully appointed family bathroom. The most unique room, however, is definitely the elegantly furnished conservatory with a bar and a lounge area. Here, the floor-to-ceiling windows offer unobstructed and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. A large skylight ensures that this space bathes in natural light.
On the right side of the villa is an elegant carport, built in later years, which offers space for multiple cars. The perfectly maintained garden features huge and colourful rhododendrons, many enormous and unique trees, and an outbuilding to store garden equipment.

“De Koppelboer” is a true piece of paradise in an enchanting landscape, yet within easy reach of all the amenities you may need. The nearby town of Oldenzaal is the oldest town in the Twente region and is known for its many culinary delights and restaurants. Oldenzaal has fifteen schools and is the last railway station in the Netherlands before the German border.
