HISTORY
Records first mention the property in 1421, when it was owned by knight Hendrik van Wassenaer. The house remained in the hands of several noble families until the 16th century. From then on, the property changed hands several times, including the rector Hendrick Swaerdecroon of Noordwijk's first Latin school and various notables from Noordwijk.

In the 19th century, the Lindenhof became the property of notary Catharinus van der Schalk and later the birthplace of Henriëtte Roland Holst, a well-known Dutch poet and politician, she spent her childhood in this house.

Until 1968, the Lindenhof was used by a notary and after that the building served as an outdoor clinic of the Academic Hospital Leiden. After the clinic closed in 1988, the house was extensively restored in detail and has been occupied by one and the same private owner ever since.
