Monumental Amsterdam School villa with studio/office/apartment living unit

This Amsterdam School Villa (1926), designed by architect Klaas van den Berg, has an important art-historical significance. Located on the Willem Bilderdijkplantsoen in Bussum North-East, on the border of Naarden, this exemplary villa district exudes art, culture and prestige. A prominent neighborhood, which was designed by the famous architect De Bazel (a.o. city archive Amsterdam) with the park, with ditch and pond, as its center. The same applies to the sculptor N.A. van der Kreek, who embellished his Amsterdam Schoolhouse with his own sculptures and ornaments. These stylistic features, as well as many others created by the architect, have been beautifully preserved. Classification

Ground floor
On the floor of the entire ground floor (except the hall) are solid oak planks. Primary colours such as red, yellow and blue can be seen throughout the house.

Entrance/hallway
If you walk through the front garden towards the iconic chimney, you will find the front door. It leads you inside where in the entrance and hall, the hand of the Amsterdam School architect becomes immediately visible. There are beige mosaic stones on the floor, the staircase upstairs is specially designed with wooden design banisters and the cloakroom, in the tower, is large with three windows. In the hall is also a toilet.

Kitchen / utility room
The kitchen is characterized by a row of windows with rod division and the famous yellow beam.
One of the colors of the Amsterdam School. Piece de resistance is the big AGA cooker. Furthermore, the kitchen is minimalist, including a modern low kitchen unit with metal look drawers and wooden countertops and niches in the wall. From the kitchen you can go to the side garden, and to the pantry (where the refrigerator is hidden) and utility room with lots of closet space and sink. Just in front of the garden door is a small breakfast table. From that door you enter the side terrace with the authentic design outdoor bench. From the pantry you enter the terrace and walk straight into the garden.
Living room
The living room that you can enter from the pantry with a few steps, is of course special. A large room with high windows. You have a view of the backyard and the barn in the style of this monument. Special features are the low fireplace, the columns with a niche space with bookcases and stairs down to the studio.

Atelier / multifunctional room / separate living unit
You can decorate this room entirely according to your own wishes. In those days it was the ideal studio with high ceilings, large windows, beautiful light from the south-west, where the artist could get his heart racing. Nowadays, even if you don't have any artist's genes, this is a fantastic space, which you can use entirely according to your own needs. An accommodation for an au pair, a large office (2 floors), a department for a teenager, or a resident parent. (The space can be closed off from the rest of the house). Note the window sills with black, Belgian bluestone tiles on them.

Plus points are the bathroom on the ground floor with shower, toilet and sink and the upstairs (sleeping) room, which is accessible via a staircase. Large patio doors open onto the terrace in the backyard. There is also a technical room.

Garage/storage
The garage/storeroom is part of the house. You can enter it through the French doors from the driveway and from the studio. The garage is spacious with a sink and plenty of closet space. Ideal storage space and for storing a number of bicycles or a motorbike.

1st floor

Through the special staircase with typical yellow rod with red cap, you will come upstairs. On this floor you will find some ornaments by the hand of Van de Kreek.

Landing with walk-in closet
The large landing upstairs is of course completely in style. Striking is the large round bulge, behind which there is a large walk-in closet. From a wide door you reach the roof terrace, which is also completely in style with some ornaments.
Roof terrace
From the landing and the bedroom at the back you enter the fine roof terrace. Here you can look over the beautifully landscaped park with pond. A great place to relax.

3 x bedrooms
In total there are three bedrooms, all of which differ in size and appearance. The most striking room is space at the front. From the row of windows (4 pieces) you overlook your front garden. The large room consists of a room with a lot of closets and a bathroom. Specially designed with a round shower wall, steam cabin, a lighting ceiling and further on in the niche two cupboards and a washbasin (in the round tower part). Too charming! The master bedroom is at the rear.

Workroom/support unit
Through the hall at the back of the studio or through the back bedroom, you enter the upper floor of the studio. This is also a large room with a wall full of windows and a large window at the end. Here you look out on the pond of the park.
Here you can let your imagination run wild. What's it gonna be? An office, a large bedroom, a playroom or a separate (sleeping) room for a teenager, parent, nanny? This part (with the studio underneath) can in principle be completely closed off from the main house.

Cellar
Through the hall is the high basement to enter.

GARDEN
The front garden is laid out in the same style as the backyard. Many trees, shrubs, hydrangeas and paths. In the backyard there are two terraces. It is a green, friendly garden that in principle requires little maintenance. The backyard is closed off from the front garden through a gate. A safe place for small children to play.

Barn
In the garden, all in style with tiled roof, is a small barn. For garden furniture and tools.
