Description

A UNIQUE HISTORIC country house Surrounded by greenery

Sometimes there are still those places in the Netherlands that have it all. A beautiful location, two magnificent driveways that give access to a romantic historical national monument. Surrounded on all sides by age-old trees, a hinterland with orchard and unobstructed views of the meadows. Welcome to Vreedenlust.

The romantic country house, known in the village as the Slotje, is located on the leafy Hoofdstraat. The 1780 property is in concours condition and has the allure of a country estate. With a floor area of no less than 494 m², it is located on 8,630 m² of private land, surrounded by monumental trees and bordering the meadows that run down to the small river Donge. Here you will find unprecedented privacy, tranquillity and space in a prime location in the delta between 's-Hertogenbosch, Tilburg and Breda. Especially for those who want to escape the hectic city and business life after a busy day, it is a true 'zen' eldorado.

Such a property does not come on the market very often. With this presentation, we naturally like to give you an impression of this unique object, but serious candidates are advised to arrange a viewing soon. You are most welcome by appointment.

VERSATILE CLEANESS
Behind the beautiful rhododendrons on the pretty Main Street and through the magisterial weeping beech tree, you can already see the outline of the stately national monument. The double driveway is securely enclosed by a wrought-iron fence with video surveillance. Once it opens, you drive along a crackling gravel path towards the mansion.

The combination of the handsome facade with the clock in the ridge gives the property a friendly and inviting appearance. The ornamental front garden flows seamlessly into the park-like rear garden with several terraces and two large flower gardens. The flaring shape towards the rear enhances the spatial effect and is reminiscent of the romance of English landscape gardens.

At the centre of this green oasis is the white manor house from 1780, prominent on this green 'island'. Its impressive facade tells a lot, but not everything.

Come, walk with us for a moment

GROUND FLOOR
An entrance with windows all around leads into the reception hall, with seventeenth-century plinth tiles, marble tiles and a magnificent staircase.

French doors give access to the majestic yet very attractive and cosy living room with high ceiling and a monumental wooden fireplace (inlaid with seventeenth-century Delft tiles), where in winter a Canadian wood-burning stove does its work and provides a cosy fire.

From the living room, it is a few steps up to the upstairs room with library and TV area.

Below is a magnificent early seventeenth-century cellar with headroom and plastered ridge vaults, estrikken floor and separate wine storage. Adjacent to both the spacious kitchen and living room is a sunny south-facing terrace and a vista to the green hinterland.

The rear of the house has a raised floor, allowing you to look out at the setting sun from an almost royal stone platform. At the rear of the house, the current owners have their extremely comfortable office and reception room, divided into two multifunctional, bright rooms with authentic beams, herringbone flooring, high bookcases, a brand new wood-burning stove and French doors to the sunny terrace.

A 'SLOT' WITH HISTORY
From the deed of sale of 2 December 1790: 'The stede Vreedenlust, a house and yard, garden, meadow and arable land, situated at 's Gravenmoer. This stede has been purchased by C. van Mourik; firstly the house and land, continuing with the same width from the street to the Donge, from Jacoba Françoise Loeff for F. 1,541,- hilt before sheriff and aldermen of 's Gravenmoer on 20 August 1787.'

Vreedenlust is better known in the village as the Slotje. The house was long inhabited by the Van Mourik and Loeff families, mayors of 's Gravenmoer, and for a long time it also served as the town hall. After the last Loeff, the house was thoroughly restored. The beautiful backyard was laid out based on a design by renowned garden architect Mien Ruys and has become an oasis of green with all the old trees.

FIRST FLOOR
The first floor is accessible both by the aforementioned impressive staircase and by a second staircase.

The first thing we encounter here is a spacious landing or mezzanine, which provides access to five bedrooms, including the master suite. We also find two bathrooms here - one with bath, rain shower, washbasin party and toilet and the other with shower, washbasin party and toilet - as well as a laundry room.

In terms of comfort, everything has been thought of. The entire house is more than well insulated - from floors, glass to facades - making it not only whisper quiet inside, but also a pleasant temperature all year round.

SECOND FLOOR
Besides the landing, the second floor comprises a sixth bedroom as well as a
multi-purpose attic, currently used as a storage room.

GARDEN
From early morning to late evening, in any season, the garden offers a blissful place to enjoy the outdoors. Complete with a beautiful pond, several terraces, flower gardens and phenomenal vistas, it is a true paradise for young and old alike. A detached garage with an upper floor and 30 solar panels, suitable for one or two cars completes it all.

As the leaves gently rustle and the birds sing their song, you will find complete relaxation and feel at one with nature, while the robotic mowers and sprinkler systems quietly do their work.

Want fresh flowers on the table? Then simply stroll into the garden, where you can effortlessly put together a beautiful bouquet from our own picking garden. In the evening, it is a real treat when, in the golden hour, the sun sets and the hinterland is bathed in a golden glow.

ENTHOUSIASTED?
We can imagine. Because houses with this much charm and romance rarely come on the market.

Our estate agents Leslie de Ruiter and Dinja Voorhorst would be happy to make an appointment with you to view this beautiful country house. We promise in advance: you will be amazed.
