In the middle of the nature reserve, fifteen minutes' drive from the centre of Amsterdam, the top location for spectacular living on the barns.
Those who enter this house for the first time and get to know the sea behind the facades and under the majestic wooden roof, will get the surprise of their lives. Each room is impressive in its own way.
On a number of essential and authentic elements of a 250 year old farmhouse, a completely new architect-designed living and working house has been realized. Sustainability has played a major role; triple glazing, optimal insulation and heating and cooling by geothermal heat have led to the designation energy label a (!).
The barns is not a sum of rooms but is based on a unique new living concept which is characterized by intimacy in the large space. Each activity is facilitated according to specific needs and arranged in a logical place in the large available space.
The enormous spaciousness of the old barn with its beautiful wooden roof construction has been maintained, so that considerably more m3s per m2 have been realised than in any other house. The completely new front house has been given the same spaciousness by the architect. Through very large windows a direct connection to the surrounding nature reserve Naardermeer has been created.
In addition to a perfect and unique residential function, the object also offers workspaces for an artist, a thinker, a musician and meetings. The complex is made up of a number of functional zones that on the one hand are in open connection with each other and on the other hand can be separated by means of large doors. This activity-based concept is unique in residential construction. In its residential concept, architecture and sustainability, the barns are ahead of their time and more than ready for the future.
The exploitation must take into account the tax-deductible leasehold of natural monuments. However, it can be said that the height of the emphyteusis is largely compensated by the low energy bill as a result of its exceptional durability.
You shouldn't read about a building like this, you have to experience that. Serious candidates are therefore cordially invited to visit the no less than 600 m2 of total floor space of this unique object without any obligation.

Around the house is an outdoor garden with an orchard with 25 classic fruit trees and the plot flows seamlessly into the nature reserve where Galloway cows, sheep, deer and small game graze and live. It is an Eldorado for a great diversity of birds.
The complex is now very spacious. With playful ease and relatively low costs, floor space can be created in the main building. For example, 3 extra bedrooms and an extra study could be realized.
In the outbuilding, in addition to the existing functions, a garage with lift bridge and a wellness area with sauna and jacuzzi can also be accommodated.
Of course, these interventions are at the expense of the spatial experience, but what then arises is still spectacular.

The infrastructure to and from Amsterdam and Schiphol via the a1, a9 or n236 has been completely renewed in recent years, making it possible to reach the city centre of Amsterdam in approximately 20 minutes without traffic jams.
The train station is about 4 km away from the barns and has 8 connections to Amsterdam (travel time of about 14 minutes) and 4 connections to Schiphol Airport (travel time of about 22 minutes).

Spatial planning in the future
The location in the nature reserve and the associated emphyteusis of the association Natuurmonumenten is a kind of guarantee that the destination will not be changed just like that. Even if the municipality of Amsterdam is to carry out the competent authority. The leasehold canon can therefore, with a wink, be seen as a kind of insurance premium for it.
