Description


The amazing national monumental country seat Estate Klarenbeek was probably established in the 18th century and, in 2016, consists of a manor with coach house, double carport, park garden, pond, vegetable garden, stud farm with 43 stables, shed, paddocks, meadows, forest, river, arterial roads and garden. The manor, located on approximately 70 acres, was constructed in 1842 as commissioned by H.F. van Meurs and falls completely under the Nature Conservation Act of 1928. In 1919, side wings were built onto the building on both sides. The design of this extension was by the hand of the architect Wegerif.
The total complex - with the manor, garden and family vault - was recognised in 2005 as a national monument. Also the separate parts have been designated as a national monument. The complex is considered representative for a country seat with accompanying park in the English rural style.
According to the State Service for Cultural Heritage the garden could have been a design of the garden architect Zocher.
In 2008, considerable changes and extensions took place, including the restoration of all the ceilings and parquet living room; all inside and outside painting work; new meter box with 40 groups; data connections in 15 rooms; reparation outside walls; renewing all the gutters and downspouts; restored access bridge to the country seat; reparation and painting exterior shutters window frames; renewing the entire roof; new roof boards; all 4 chimneys treated with fire resistant soapstone.

Layout Manor:
2 basements: a boiler basement of approx. 30 m2 and a vaulted cellar, standing height, of approx. 25 m2.

Ground floor: spacious entrance, hall, approx. 35 m2, with parquet floor and fireplace, toilet, closed kitchen, approx. 25 m2, with scullery, 5 spacious rooms, all with parquet floor.

First floor: 6 rooms, 1 bathroom with 2 fitted washbasins, bath, shower cabin and toilet.

Attics (60 m2 and 40 m2): 5 rooms, 1 bathroom with shower cabin and toilet. From one of the attics, there is access to the roof using a fixed stairway.

The ground floor window frames and the window frames of the balconies have been equipped with safety glass. The entire estate is electronically secured.
The coach house located to the right of the main building was constructed in 1841. Although the original destination has been changed, the entrance doors have been left intact.
