AN OWN PLACE IN THE HEART OF THE HAGUE
The district Benoordenhout in The Hague is one of the most beautiful areas of the city, yet very close to the heart of this fascinating city. Ruychrocklaan border, the beautiful quiet Park Clingendael and the Bosjes van Zanen. Two of the main features of Clingendael are the stately home and the famous Japanese Garden which dates back over 100 years.

Access to the Bosjes and therefore to Clingendael is through a gate located 100 m from the property. In the vicinity of the Ruychrocklaan 238 are also many houses of great architectural value, dating from the beginning of the last century. In the Ruychrocklaan itself there are a number of villas designed by the Nieuwe Hage School architect Co Brandes. On the parallel Van Ouwenlaan there are a couple of villas by the world-famous modernist architect and furniture maker Gerrit Rietveld. However, it is with the neighbouring villa, on the Van Soutelandelaan, that Ruychrocklaan 238 is most intimately involved.

This neighbouring villa was built in 1937 as the residence of the well-known architect and advocate of the New Dutch Functionalism, J.B. van Loghem. The design of the new building 238 was inspired by the Van Loghem villa, which has since become a national monument. The context of 'new construction' is reflected in the choice of building materials - the building has a white stucco exterior, glazed brick walls, steel window frames and an open plan living area.
