East of Deventer, the landscape is characterised by wonderful open views with robust farmhouses amidst lush, green, tree-lined pastures and woodlands. This exceptional villa is located on the Looweg, opposite a parcel of woodland and just a few minutes’ drive from the heart of the beautiful village of Bathmen. This panorama was the inspiration for the design of the villa. In Japan, such unobstructed lines of sight are called ‘Shakkei’, meaning ‘borrowed landscape’.

The impressive ceiling height of 7.20 metres creates an amazingly spacious effect and ensures that the spaces are flooded with natural light. The large glass sliding walls and skylights are all made with triple-layered glazing with a heat-reflecting coating for optimal insulation. The basement that spans the entire surface area of the ground floor offers two bedrooms, an artist studio or study, a fitness room, a bathroom, and a toilet. Next to the villa, in the garden, you will find a large outbuilding with a second living room, kitchen, bathroom, toilet, and a space with the technical units. This part of the property can be perfectly used as a guesthouse, a studio, or home office.

This very spacious and sustainable property offers a unique opportunity for people who desire private and contemporary living in the stunning rural area near Bathmen. And for those who are not yet familiar with another important aspect of living in this agricultural region – its people are known to look out for each other, something that is locally called noaberschap, which can be translated as neighbourliness.
